In this new interview series you'll get to meet some of the millions of people in the relatable index and hear their point of view, honest opinions and advice to marketing teams and brands that are looking to engage the growing long-tail of digital influential talent.
Meet @heartmybackpack – one of 260 people that participated in our recent global campaign with Polaroid Eyewear.
Alright let's get started, Silvia. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Silvia, I'm 29 years old and work as a travel blogger.
Cool, where do you live, Silvia?
So, you’ve a lot of followers on Instagram with exceptionally high engagement, how did that happen?
I moved to Norway! Haha no, I post a lot of photos from outside of Norway too, but I do think all the photos of the gorgeous Norwegian countryside have helped. I travel to a lot of off the beaten path destinations, so I think people enjoy discovering new hidden gems through my account. At least I hope so!
Besides Instagram, where else can people find you online?
Now, with a growing fan base and high quality content you're on a really great trajectory. But what's your goal (or dream even) say, in a year from now? Where would you want to be?
My dream is to one day feel truly settled in Norway while continuing to travel the world. I've never felt like any one place was home before, so I'm really hoping that happens in Norway.
That sounds so exciting! What's your favourite brand that you follow on Instagram?
Sweet! Speaking of brands and Instagram, how many brands are contacting you for collaborations each month?
Congrats, that's amazing and quickly adds up to a lot of opportunities this year. With that many brands reaching out to you, what’s your #1 advice for brands that are looking to run brand marketing campaigns with online content creators and influencers like yourself?
We have influence for a reason - give us enough creative control to make the kinds of posts we know are followers will love and engage with.
And what are your thoughts about brands that are contacting you to do work for them without any compensation (just free products)?
I don't have time to work without compensation.
On the topic of compensation and disclosure, how is your audience reacting to #sponsored posts?
They seem to do similarly to my non-sponsored content!
What’s your #1 advice for other digital creators like yourself that are looking to run successful brand collaborations?
Only work with brands you genuinely love so that you can naturally work them into your content - your followers trust you so you don't want to break that trust by recommending a bad product, and you don't need to try to be overly salesy with them.
Final question about brand collaborations then: The Brands that you are choosing to work with – What are the main factors when you choose to collaborate with a brand?
I would feel comfortable recommending this brand to a close friend, and they give me enough creative control.
You recently participated in one of our campaigns with Polaroid Eyewear along with 260 other people. How did this campaign differ from other collaborations you have done or seen others do and why?
This campaign was much bigger!
And what's it like working with Relatable?
I'm so impressed by how organized this Relatable campaign was - it was run very smoothly and professionally.
That's lovely to hear! Final question – If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?
My boyfriend's dad. He passed away before I met my boyfriend, and I've heard so much about him and often wish that I could just meet him for even a few minutes.
