Monika

Monika - Brand developer from Norway

In this new interview series you'll get to meet some of the millions of people in the relatable index and hear their point of view, honest opinions and advice to marketing teams and brands that are looking to engage the growing long-tail of digital influential talent.

Meet @thestyleventure – one of 260 people that participated in our recent global campaign with Polaroid Eyewear.

Alright let's get started, Monika. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Monika, I'm 22 years old and work as a brand developer.

Cool, where do you live, Monika?

Norway

So, you’ve a lot of followers on Instagram with exceptionally high engagement, how did that happen?

I have been working hard for 2 years to achieve this. It is not easy and it is hard to break through with instagram changing the algorithm.

Besides Instagram,  where else can people find you online?

http://www.thestyleventure.com

Now, with a growing fan base and high quality content you're on a really great trajectory. But what's your goal (or dream even) say, in a year from now?  Where would you want to be?

I would love to live off online work and collaborations.

That sounds so exciting! What's your favourite brand that you follow on Instagram?

Guerlain

Sweet! Speaking of brands and Instagram, how many brands are contacting you for collaborations each month?

3

Congrats, that's amazing and quickly adds up to alot of opportunities this year. With that many brands reaching out to you, what’s your #1 advice for brands that are looking to run brand marketing campaigns with online content creators and influencers like yourself?

Be respectful and treat influencers seriously.

And what are your thoughts about brands that are contacting you to do work for them without any compensation (just free products)?

I find it a bit disrespectful since we all put so much work into our instagram. It is a full-time job in itself. Sometimes I will accept free collaborations if I see working with the brand in the future.

On the topic of compensation and disclosure, how is your audience reacting to #sponsored posts?

They like them. They see it as an added value.

What’s your #1 advice for other digital creators like yourself that are looking to run successful brand collaborations?

Always post on time.

Final question about brand collaborations then: The Brands that you are choosing to work with – What are the main factors when you choose to collaborate with a brand?

I choose the brands that fit with my aesthetic. Also I see if the post would be interesting to my followers.

You recently participated in one of our campaigns with Polaroid Eyewear along with 260 other people. How did this campaign differ from other collaborations you have done or seen others do and why?

I liked this campaign with relatable because it was very simple to follow. Many times you have to guess what brands actually want.

And what's it like working with Relatable?

Relatable is my favourite agency to work with. The instructions are always easy to follow and I am also paid accordingly. I would suggest not using the 'multiple photos' for the advertising though since people don't really post posts like that as influencers. When they do it is obvious that it is an ad. For an ad to be successful it is better to make it fit into the bloggers timeline more.

That's lovely to hear! Final question – If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

Jesus – I would ask him what the universe is for :-)

Thank you Monika! Anything else you'd like to say?

Keep going! Love working with you.

And with those kind words we'll wrap up and encourage everyone to follow @thestyleventure on Instagram and check out http://www.thestyleventure.com

My name is Eva, I'm 20 years old and work as a blogger.

Cool, where do you live, Eva?

Erlangen, Germany

So, you’ve a lot of followers on Instagram with exceptionally high engagement, how did that happen?

Hard work, patience and a bit of luck, well honestly, I most times also don't why people chose to follow me, since I am just a normal 20year old girl.

Besides Instagram,  where else can people find you online?

http://www.eva-jasmin.de

Now, with a growing fan base and high quality content you're on a really great trajectory. But what's your goal (or dream even) say, in a year from now?  Where would you want to be?

Traveling the world while still working as a blogger

That sounds so exciting! What's your favourite brand that you follow on Instagram?

Chanel

Sweet! Speaking of brands and Instagram, how many brands are contacting you for collaborations each month?

20

Congrats, that's amazing and quickly adds up to alot of opportunities this year. With that many brands reaching out to you, what’s your #1 advice for brands that are looking to run brand marketing campaigns with online content creators and influencers like yourself?

Do your research such as: what's the name of the blogger but also does this person really suit to our brand?

And what are your thoughts about brands that are contacting you to do work for them without any compensation (just free products)?

I usually don't work with them. I cannot pay my rent with free products...

On the topic of compensation and disclosure, how is your audience reacting to #sponsored posts?

Good, since I try to balance it out with enough "normal" posts and also I work hard on integrating them good as well as staying authentic

What’s your #1 advice for other digital creators like yourself that are looking to run successful brand collaborations?

Be authentic and just promote what you honestly would buy by yourself!

Final question about brand collaborations then: The Brands that you are choosing to work with – What are the main factors when you choose to collaborate with a brand?

Does the brand as well as the product fit to me and my blog? Do they offer me a suitable compensation?

You recently participated in one of our campaigns with Polaroid Eyewear along with 260 other people. How did this campaign differ from other collaborations you have done or seen others do and why?

It was more special, I didn't see EVERY blogger participate in the campaign and promoting the same product over and over again

And what's it like working with Relatable?

Easy and fair!

That's lovely to hear! Final question – If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

Coco Chanel, because I simply adore her

Thank you Eva! Anything else you'd like to say?

Keep up working like this!

And with those kind words we'll wrap up and encourage everyone to follow @eva_jasmin on Instagram and check out http://www.eva-jasmin.de

Besides Instagram,  where else can people find you online?

Sweet! Speaking of brands and Instagram, how many brands are contacting you for collaborations each month?

15

Congrats, that's amazing and quickly adds up to alot of opportunities this year. With that many brands reaching out to you, what’s your #1 advice for brands that are looking to run brand marketing campaigns with online content creators and influencers like yourself?

Just be honest up front with what you're offering the blogger and what you want from them in return.

And what are your thoughts about brands that are contacting you to do work for them without any compensation (just free products)?

It's great for new bloggers but with anyone over 10K I don't think they should do it without compensation.

On the topic of compensation and disclosure, how is your audience reacting to #sponsored posts?

Very well because even though they're sponsored they still know I test everything and give my true thoughts on the product or service.

What’s your #1 advice for other digital creators like yourself that are looking to run successful brand collaborations?

Remember that this is a job and to show your best work.

Final question about brand collaborations then: The Brands that you are choosing to work with – What are the main factors when you choose to collaborate with a brand?

If I like the brand and if I would use it without them reaching out.

You recently participated in one of our campaigns with Polaroid Eyewear along with 260 other people. How did this campaign differ from other collaborations you have done or seen others do and why?

This past one was VERY organized and I loved that.

And what's it like working with Relatable?

I loved working with them. As I said before it was very organized and easy to work with them. Also I loved the brand that we did the collaboration with.

That's lovely to hear! Final question – If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

I would love to have dinner with my mothers father (my grandpa). He died before I was born and I have been told I am a lot like him.

Thank you Julie! Anything else you'd like to say?

Thank you for this great collaboration!

That sounds so exciting! What's your favourite brand that you follow on Instagram?

Free People

Sweet! Speaking of brands and Instagram, how many brands are contacting you for collaborations each month?

25

Congrats, that's amazing and quickly adds up to alot of opportunities this year. With that many brands reaching out to you, what’s your #1 advice for brands that are looking to run brand marketing campaigns with online content creators and influencers like yourself?

Be nice and flexible!

And what are your thoughts about brands that are contacting you to do work for them without any compensation (just free products)?

It's not right. It's like asking someone to advertise just for free. We put a lot of hard work and money for photographers, etc. into each photo, so it's only fair to pay us.

On the topic of compensation and disclosure, how is your audience reacting to #sponsored posts?

They seem to like them a lot.

What’s your #1 advice for other digital creators like yourself that are looking to run successful brand collaborations?

Only work with brands that you truly love!

Final question about brand collaborations then: The Brands that you are choosing to work with – What are the main factors when you choose to collaborate with a brand?

They are quality brands whose clothing I actually would buy myself.

You recently participated in one of our campaigns with Polaroid Eyewear along with 260 other people. How did this campaign differ from other collaborations you have done or seen others do and why?

It was ran really well. I liked that the details were clear and sent to us so we knew exactly what to do.

And what's it like working with Relatable?

Great. I would love to work with them again in the future. I don't see any improvements that I can think of. They are different because they seem more organized!

That's lovely to hear! Final question – If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

Reese Witherspoon

Thank you Morgan! Anything else you'd like to say?

I would love to work with them again!

Cool, where do you live, Lorena?

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

So, you’ve a lot of followers on Instagram with exceptionally high engagement, how did that happen?

My growth was very natural. I did not plan to become an influencer. People were liking my lifestyle and started to follow. At first I did not even want to be a blogger, but there came a time when I decided not to refuse the invitations and opportunities that were appearing.

Besides Instagram,  where else can people find you online?

http://lorenacampello.com

Now, with a growing fan base and high quality content you're on a really great trajectory. But what's your goal (or dream even) say, in a year from now?  Where would you want to be?

That sounds so exciting! What's your favourite brand that you follow on Instagram?

Revolve Clothing!

Not only look at the numbers, look primarily at the engagement of the influencers.

And what are your thoughts about brands that are contacting you to do work for them without any compensation (just free products)?

Depending on the brand I accept to work in exchange for products.

On the topic of compensation and disclosure, how is your audience reacting to #sponsored posts?

The audience is usually good, because I usually work with only brands that I really identify with.

What’s your #1 advice for other digital creators like yourself that are looking to run successful brand collaborations?

Work hard! LOL

Final question about brand collaborations then: The Brands that you are choosing to work with – What are the main factors when you choose to collaborate with a brand?

The brand should match with my profile!

You recently participated in one of our campaigns with Polaroid Eyewear along with 260 other people. How did this campaign differ from other collaborations you have done or seen others do and why?

I had excellent support from relatable employees throughout the campaign. Every time I asked for help I got a response very quickly.

And what's it like working with Relatable?

The positive experience was when I had a problem receiving the product because of the customs the team solved very efficiently so that I could be part of the campaign.

That's lovely to hear! Final question – If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

Leonardo da Vinci. Because in my opinion he is one of the most intelligent people in the history of mankind. I wonder how much I could learn from him during a dinner :)

Thank you Lorena! Anything else you'd like to say?

I would say that it was an immense pleasure to work with Relatable. I hope to see you soon!

My name is Carol, I'm 18 years old and work as a fashion designer & stylist.

Cool, where do you live, Carol?

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

So, you’ve a lot of followers on Instagram – how did that happen?

It all started on my Tumblr and Polyvore account, I used to reblog and post stuff and I just got recognized for my work! People like to see what I create on Polyvore and started following me on Social Media.

Besides Instagram,  where else can people find you online?

http://snapchat.com/acarolsp

Now, with a growing fan base and high quality content you're on a really great trajectory. But what's your goal (or dream even) say, in a year from now?  Where would you want to be?

My goal right now is to move out to New York or Los Angeles, I guess we have more opportunities there. My dream is to build my own thing and make my name universal.

That sounds so exciting! What's your favourite brand that you follow on Instagram?

I.AM.GIA is my favorite account to follow. I just love the way they put things together!

Sweet! Speaking of brands and Instagram, how many brands are contacting you for collaborations each month?

25

Wow, that's amazing and quickly adds up to alot of opportunities this year. With that many brands reaching out to you, what’s your #1 advice for brands that are looking to run brand marketing campaigns with online content creators and influencers like yourself?

Focus on the right people, the ones who have the style that matches your brand and the ones who could represent it, not just influencers with the biggest following. Sometimes 2 influencers with a smaller audience and a nice style that matches your brand can be 10x better than one with 4M followers that just posts random stuff.

And what are your thoughts about brands that are contacting you to do work for them without any compensation (just free products)?

I don't see nothing wrong with it to be honest.

On the topic of compensation and disclosure, how is your audience reacting to #sponsored posts?

I've done many sponsored posts lately and they're reacting really well to it. I don't like to "fake" things so I always try to be as spontaneous as possible.

What’s your #1 advice for other digital creators like yourself that are looking to run successful brand collaborations?

Reach out to the brands that match your style and audience, be honest and do the best you can do.

Final question about brand collaborations then: The Brands that you are choosing to work with – What are the main factors when you choose to collaborate with a brand?

As a Fashion Designer, I always look for the ones with great designs. Having a good Instagram feed can be really good for your brand too, as I mentioned before, I.AM.GIA is my currently favorite brand on Instagram because their posts are inspiring, I also love Nasty Gal's Instagram account. - And of course, how they reach to me, it's so important to stay professional but nice at the same time.

You recently participated in one of our campaigns with Polaroid Eyewear along with 260 other people. How did this campaign differ from other collaborations you have done or seen others do and why?

Relatable and their staff were really helpful and friendly with the Polaroid campaign.

And what's it like working with Relatable?

My experience working with Relatable was just amazing. I received full support whenever I emailed the team, they always helped me and answered in time. If there are any future collaborations in the agency I would totally love to join again.

That's lovely to hear! Final question – If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

Donatella Versace, her influence is Fashion is legendary and inspiring and I would love to sit and just listen to her.

Thank you Carol! Anything else you'd like to say?

Thank you Relatable for including me on the campaign. I really enjoyed doing it and can't wait for future collaborations!

And with those kind words we'll wrap up and encourage everyone to follow @ascarolp on Instagram and check out http://snapchat.com/acarolsp

Meet @celinakarine – one of 260 people that participated in our recent global campaign with Polaroid Eyewear.

Alright let's get started, Celina Karine. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Celina Karine, I'm 21 years old and work as a make up artist and youtuber.

Cool, where do you live, Celina Karine?

Oslo, Norway

So, you’ve a lot of followers on Instagram with exceptionally high engagement, how did that happen?

Here in Norway there aren't really that many Norwegian YouTubers, at least not when I started, so I guess people were very interested when myself and a few others started to post make up tutorials a couple of years ago. I am very personal with my followers on all of my platforms and I think the main reason for the engagement I am getting from them is due to me being relatable (hehe!) :)

Besides Instagram,  where else can people find you online?

http://youtube.com/celina1105

Now, with a growing fan base and high quality content you're on a really great trajectory. But what's your goal (or dream even) say, in a year from now?  Where would you want to be?

To continue to grow on social media and to create more own products

That sounds so exciting! What's your favourite brand that you follow on Instagram?

NYX Cosmetics, Quay Australia and Bagatiba are some of them

Give the influencer freedom to do the campaign as they know their followers will enjoy the most!

And what are your thoughts about brands that are contacting you to do work for them without any compensation (just free products)?

It depends on the relation and what they expect in return. I have answered many times that I really can't live on lipstick, all though I'd wished for it to be that easy. You wouldn't expect a chef to cook for free if you gave him kitchen tools, so why should I work for free?

On the topic of compensation and disclosure, how is your audience reacting to #sponsored posts?

As long as the post are done in my way and written with my own words, they seem to enjoy them. Especially when they are getting a coupon code or something like that :)

What’s your #1 advice for other digital creators like yourself that are looking to run successful brand collaborations?

Be selective and deliver.

Final question about brand collaborations then: The Brands that you are choosing to work with – What are the main factors when you choose to collaborate with a brand?

I really appreciate cruelty friendly brands who is know for good service, quality products and great collabs. As I've already said it is also very important to me that the campaign allows me to do it in my own way with my own words.

You recently participated in one of our campaigns with Polaroid Eyewear along with 260 other people. How did this campaign differ from other collaborations you have done or seen others do and why?

From what I understand it was a big campaign and it was very fun being a part of it! I wished I could pick my pair my self, not just being sent a random one, but I turned out okey :)

And what's it like working with Relatable?

I love how easy Relatable makes it! You follow me through the campaign from start to finish which I really appreciate. Really professional, thanks :)

That's lovely to hear! Final question – If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

Work vise; probably Samantha Maria (YouTuber & blogger). I really love her style and think she does a great job!

(The lovely Samantha Maria featured in photo above)

And with that we'll wrap up this interview and encourage everyone to follow @celinakarine on Instagram and check out http://youtube.com/celina1105

My name is Nicola, I'm 24 years old and work as a blogger.

Cool, where do you live, Nicola?

Wiesbaden, Germany and Meilen, Switzerland

So, you’ve a lot of followers on Instagram with exceptionally high engagement, how did that happen?

I started my Instagram Channel in 2013 it was way smaller back then and it was a great place for people to get to know you and your blog and I grew year by year after that. I try to keep as real as possible as I think it is hugely important nowadays to not only show people the perfect days of your life but also events that form or have formed who you are.

Besides Instagram,  where else can people find you online?

http://www.morningelegance.de

Now, with a growing fan base and high quality content you're on a really great trajectory. But what's your goal (or dream even) say, in a year from now?  Where would you want to be?

My goal is to fully live of my blog and grow a famous youtube channel as I think that it is the easiest way to offer my followers the most personal impressions.

That sounds so exciting! What's your favourite brand that you follow on Instagram?

Chloé

To offer us a good value and appreciate who we are and what we are doing. I always put way more effort in campaigns that are paid correctly. If you take me seriously I take you seriously ;) and you have to at least know my name. :D

And what are your thoughts about brands that are contacting you to do work for them without any compensation (just free products)?

I think they cut themselves by it because bloggers are willing to offer you more if they are paid. Rather go with less bloggers and pay them even if it is only a little amount of money. This way the blogger feels not used by the company.

On the topic of compensation and disclosure, how is your audience reacting to #sponsored posts?

They know that I only show products I love and that I stay true to the brands I love. My favorites are longterm sponsored relationships .

What’s your #1 advice for other digital creators like yourself that are looking to run successful brand collaborations?

Don't do everything for free.

Final question about brand collaborations then: The Brands that you are choosing to work with – What are the main factors when you choose to collaborate with a brand?

Professionality, great designs that fit to my style and who I am and creative freedom.

You recently participated in one of our campaigns with Polaroid Eyewear along with 260 other people. How did this campaign differ from other collaborations you have done or seen others do and why?

I loved the way how easy it was to just fill everything in in these forms. The payment and product shipment was also very professional and I got answered the questions I had right away.

And what's it like working with Relatable?

Relatable is different from the other agencies I've worked with because it has a great website and internet appearance.

That's lovely to hear! Final question – If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

Audrey Hepburn, as she was such a lovely human being and I am sure I could learn a lot from her.

Thank you Nicola! Anything else you'd like to say?

Please contact me for other campaigns again. It was great to work with you!

And with those kind words we'll wrap up and encourage everyone to follow @morning.elegance on Instagram and check out http://www.morningelegance.de

Silvia Lawrence

Silvia - travel blogger from Rauland, Norway

In this new interview series you'll get to meet some of the millions of people in the relatable index and hear their point of view, honest opinions and advice to marketing teams and brands that are looking to engage the growing long-tail of digital influential talent.

Meet @heartmybackpack – one of 260 people that participated in our recent global campaign with Polaroid Eyewear.

Alright let's get started, Silvia. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Silvia, I'm 29 years old and work as a travel blogger.

Cool, where do you live, Silvia?

Rauland, Norway

So, you’ve a lot of followers on Instagram with exceptionally high engagement, how did that happen?

I moved to Norway! Haha no, I post a lot of photos from outside of Norway too, but I do think all the photos of the gorgeous Norwegian countryside have helped. I travel to a lot of off the beaten path destinations, so I think people enjoy discovering new hidden gems through my account. At least I hope so!

Besides Instagram,  where else can people find you online?

http://heartmybackpack.com

Now, with a growing fan base and high quality content you're on a really great trajectory. But what's your goal (or dream even) say, in a year from now?  Where would you want to be?

My dream is to one day feel truly settled in Norway while continuing to travel the world. I've never felt like any one place was home before, so I'm really hoping that happens in Norway.

That sounds so exciting! What's your favourite brand that you follow on Instagram?

@delias

Sweet! Speaking of brands and Instagram, how many brands are contacting you for collaborations each month?

10

Congrats, that's amazing and quickly adds up to a lot of opportunities this year. With that many brands reaching out to you, what’s your #1 advice for brands that are looking to run brand marketing campaigns with online content creators and influencers like yourself?

We have influence for a reason - give us enough creative control to make the kinds of posts we know are followers will love and engage with.

And what are your thoughts about brands that are contacting you to do work for them without any compensation (just free products)?

I don't have time to work without compensation.

On the topic of compensation and disclosure, how is your audience reacting to #sponsored posts?

They seem to do similarly to my non-sponsored content!

What’s your #1 advice for other digital creators like yourself that are looking to run successful brand collaborations?

Only work with brands you genuinely love so that you can naturally work them into your content - your followers trust you so you don't want to break that trust by recommending a bad product, and you don't need to try to be overly salesy with them.

Final question about brand collaborations then: The Brands that you are choosing to work with – What are the main factors when you choose to collaborate with a brand?

I would feel comfortable recommending this brand to a close friend, and they give me enough creative control.

You recently participated in one of our campaigns with Polaroid Eyewear along with 260 other people. How did this campaign differ from other collaborations you have done or seen others do and why?

This campaign was much bigger!

And what's it like working with Relatable?

I'm so impressed by how organized this Relatable campaign was - it was run very smoothly and professionally.

That's lovely to hear! Final question – If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

My boyfriend's dad. He passed away before I met my boyfriend, and I've heard so much about him and often wish that I could just meet him for even a few minutes.

I only do pay jobs 😊

Very well!
